President El-Sisi Meets with PM, Ministers and Officials

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met today with Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Assistant to the President for National and Strategic Projects Eng. Sherif Ismail, Minister of Local Development Mr. Mahmoud Shaarawi, Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities Dr. Assem El-Gazzar and Presidential Advisor for Urban Planning Major General Amir Sayed Ahmed, and Chairman of the Engineering Authority of the Armed Forces Staff Major General Ehab Al-Far.

The Spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency stated that the meeting discussed the state's efforts to organize the process of residential construction and urban planning nationwide.

The President was briefed on the outcome of the efforts and steps that have been taken during the past period in this regard, especially in Cairo, Giza and Alexandria. He was also briefed on the outcome of the work of the relevant committees that were formed and include all the competent authorities and the proposals and mechanisms being discussed to reorganize the construction activity according to new building standards.

The President has called for formulating the new building system with all aspects and details, in a manner that achieves the governance of the construction process and urban expansion. This system has to be within a framework of clear standards, including engineering designs, construction phases, car accommodation and services for each building as well as criteria for determining the height of residential buildings.

His Excellency stressed the inevitability of applying these standards to regulate the construction process and adopting a new path regarding residential and urban expansion, a path based on scientific and objective rules.

The Spokesman added that the President also followed up on “Ahaleena 3” project. His Excellency was briefed on the project’s plan. In this regard, he gave directives for increasing the area of the project so as to accommodate the largest number of families.
