President El-Sisi Meets with PM and Several Ministers and Officials

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met today with Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Mabdouly, Minister of Planning and Economic Development Dr. Hala El-Said, Minister of Health and Population Dr. Hala Zayed, Minister of Social Solidarity Ms. Nevine Al-Kabbaj, Presidential Adviser for Health and Prevention Affairs Dr. Mohamed Awad Taj El-Din, and President of the National Council for Women Dr. Maya Morsy.

The Spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency stated that the meeting discussed the latest updates on the national project for developing the Egyptian family.

The President directed that the primary goal for the national project for developing the Egyptian family should be achieving a balance between population and economic growth rates and upgrading the characteristics of the population. The primary goal should also aim, as directed by the President, to achieve population control and address the basic social issues and concerns of the Egyptian family.

The President also directed that all the efforts of the concerned authorities be integrated within this framework with the aim of managing the population issue from a comprehensive perspective that improves the citizen’s quality of life from all aspects, including health, social, family, and economic.

His Excellency emphasized that they should give special attention to establishing accurate databases which will achieve effective communication with all segments of the society. In this regard, the President pointed out that the stakeholders should benefit from the current efforts made in “Haya Karima” (Decent Life) Initiative for the development of the Egyptian countryside villages.

During the meeting, the proposed executive plan for the national project for developing the Egyptian family was presented, which aims to improve all aspects of the Egyptian citizens’ and families’ lives through controlling population growth and upgrading population characteristics.

This plan is based on several axes of economic empowerment, service intervention, and awareness, education and culture programs, as well as digital transformation and the legislative framework. This plan targets various governorates nationwide and its priorities are arranged according to the governorates most in need and with the highest levels of total fertility rate as well as the governorates in the first phase of the national project for the development of the Egyptian countryside villages as part of Decent Life Initiative.

The objectives of each axis of the national project for developing the Egyptian family were also presented within the executive plan. The axis of economic empowerment aims to achieve the largest degree of financial independence and employment opportunities for women in the age group of 18-45 and to develop incentive programs that will help empower women economically through financing one million micro-projects.

The service intervention axis aims to provide family planning services in cooperation with NGOs and civil society organizations, whereas the awareness program axis seeks to raise awareness among citizens on the basic concepts of the population issue and the social and economic implications of rising populations.

The digital transformation axis aims to establish a unified electronic system to automate and connect all services provided to the Egyptian family. The legislative axis will also develop a governing regulatory framework for the policies taken to control population growth.
