President El-Sisi Meets with PM and Minister of International Cooperation

Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly and Minister of International Cooperation Dr. Rania Al-Mashat.

The Spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency stated that, during the meeting, they discussed the strategy of the Ministry of International Cooperation with its partners and various international financial institutions within the framework of the state's economic and development efforts.

In this respect, President El-Sisi gave directives for boosting cooperation with the regional and international economic and financial cooperation institutions, in parallel with committing to external debt controls. He also highlighted the importance of following up the targeted projects implementation rates in a manner that optimizes the use of finance packages and maximizes benefit in favor of comprehensive development in various sectors.

The Spokesman pointed out that the Minister of International Cooperation discussed the prominent means of interaction with development partners, which targets citizens as the core of the comprehensive development process within the framework of the state's investment strategy in shaping the Egyptian personality. The several-implemented projects in various sectors in furtherance of sustainable development and production goals.

Dr. Rania Al-Mashat also presented the Ministry's efforts in fund raising and mobilizing various forms of support from development partners to meet the medical needs required to deal with the coronavirus pandemic and to mitigate its social and economic impact.

The Minister further introduced the Ministry's activities regarding loans and finance packages in negotiations with development partners at the bilateral or multilateral levels. Thus, various state sectors, such as health, electricity, transportation, education, and trade, as well as housing and utilities, will be supported.

The Minister of International Cooperation presented the Ministry’s coordination efforts with the United Nations and the various national bodies to promote strategic bilateral partnership. The pillars of this partnership are represented in the comprehensive economic development, social protection programs and packages, capacity building and women empowerment. This is in addition to the projects aiming at protecting the environment, promoting innovation and entrepreneurship, improving the quality of services and developing the most vulnerable areas.
