President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met today with Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly.

The Spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency stated that the meeting discussed the results of the recent visit of the Prime Minister to Libya at the head of a high-level ministerial delegation.

The President directed that the Egyptian capabilities should be harnessed, all possible assistance be provided to support the Libyan brothers in all fields, and the opportunities for cooperation between the two brotherly countries be increased. As a result, economic conditions would be improved, security and stability achieved, and the implementation of the agreed roadmap supported until elections are held next December.

The Spokesman added that, in the meeting, Dr. Madbouly touched on the various files and subjects discussed with the Libyan side, including the agreement on the reopening of the Egyptian diplomatic missions in Libya in both Tripoli and Benghazi as soon as possible.

This is in addition to the Libyan Prime Minister’s request for Egypt’s support to Libya via taking urgent measures for allowing the return of the Egyptian workers to Libya and facilitating movement between the two countries. It was agreed, in this respect, to speed up setting controls and special frameworks to regularize the status of Egyptian workers and determine the priority areas. Additionally, the importance of taking advantage of the Egyptian companies, especially in the sectors of electricity and infrastructure, housing and transportation, was also underlined in order to implement the various projects scheduled to be launched during the coming period in Libya.

The Prime Minister also highlighted the results of the visit, notably the agreement reached on scheduling a date for resuming the work of the Joint Egyptian-Libyan Higher Committee during the coming weeks for the first time after its suspension since 2009.
