President El-Sisi Meets Prime Minister, Ministers of Electricity, Finance, Trade and Industry

Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mohamed Shaker El-Markabi, Minister of Finance Mohammed Maait and Minister of Trade and Industry Nevine Gamea.

The Spokesman for the Presidency stated that the meeting followed-up on national efforts to replace imports and to increase reliance on local products in order to provide production requirements for the national industry.

The President emphasized the importance of strengthening measures to increase reliance on the national industry. This shall take place through coordinated efforts among the concerned ministries, business community, private sector and investors. The aim is to establish industrial investment projects to fill the import gaps for a number of production inputs that serve all development sectors, particularly the energy and construction sectors, and in parallel support the production capacities that are currently available.

The Minister of Trade and Industry reviewed the main aspects of the program to replace imports and provide local production requirements for the national industry. This is in addition to steps, adopted by the Ministry of Trade and Industry in coordination with the Ministry of Electricity, to determine the qualitative distribution of the most important commodity imports of electrical production requirements so as to enhance the localization of manufacturing them, particularly with regard to the requirements directly related to development projects.
