President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received today Speaker of the Arab Parliament and member of the Bahraini Parliament Mr. Adel Al-Assoumi, in the presence of Speaker of the Egyptian House of Representatives Dr. Hanafi Jabali, and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Sameh Shoukry.

The Spokesman for the Egyptian presidency stated that during the meeting, the President was awarded “the Leadership Medal”, the highest award presented by the Arab Parliament to the Kings and Heads of State.

This award reflects the Parliament’s appreciation to His Excellency’s tireless efforts demonstrated in Egypt’s moves as well as its conscious and discreet policies in the service of all issues of the Arab nation, the latest of which is reaching a cease-fire agreement between the Palestinian and Israeli sides that contributed to reducing human and material losses in the Gaza Strip.

The award was also given to His Excellency in recognition of Egypt’s unprecedented achievements across all aspects of life in the course of development and construction; hence, Egypt sets an inspiring Arab development model to the world under the leadership of His Excellency.

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi asked that his greetings be conveyed to his brother, His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain, and all members of the Arab Parliament. The President expressed his appreciation to the Arab Parliament for granting him this high award and for supporting Egypt in the issues affecting its national security.

President El-Sisi further expressed his pride in the efforts made by the Arab Parliament as a democratic platform for dialogue, a popular momentum for the joint Arab action system and an effective partner in serving the higher interests of the Arab nation, and strengthening ties between its people. In this context, the President affirmed that Egypt supports the Arab Parliament’s efforts to achieve the set goals and looks forward to discussing prospects for strengthening cooperation with the Arab Parliament to serve the mutual Arab issues.

For his part, Mr. Al Asoomi expressed his honor to meet the President, praising Egypt's role under the leadership of His Excellency in maintaining the Arab national security and advancing joint Arab action at various levels, including the Arab Parliament. He further highlighted Egypt’s pioneering parliamentary experience and expertise.

Mr. Al Asoomi further commended Egypt’s hosting of the temporary headquarters for the Arab Parliament’s meetings, which reflects Egypt’s belief in the Parliament’s effective role as one of the basic Arab mechanisms for communicating with peoples and taking effective positions to safeguard the interests of the Arab countries.

During the meeting, visions were exchanged on the future vision of strengthening the role of the Arab Parliament, especially through the Arab Parliament’s “Arab Observatory for Human Rights.” President El-Sisi emphasized the importance of the Observatory in formulating the Arab approach and outlining a vision for human right issues in their comprehensive and deep sense through contacting various human right organizations worldwide to express the Arab viewpoint in this regard. Thus, the Observatory would support the Arab position through the adoption of an advanced cultural thought.

In this context, the President stressed that preserving the Arab national security is a key pillar for maintaining human rights, particularly through promoting the extended national relations and bridges of communication between the Arab nations.

As a result, prejudicing national states leads to disintegration, destruction, and violation of the basic rights of people and future generations affected by the harsh conditions of insecurity and stability.
