President El-Sisi Meets King of Jordan and Abu Dhabi Crown Prince

Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received at Ittihadia Palace His Majesty King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

The Spokesman for the Presidency stated that President El-Sisi hosted an Iftar banquet in honor of Egypt’s esteemed guests, who exchanged greetings on the advent of Eid El-Fitr.  

President El-Sisi and Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed also congratulated Jordan’s king on the successful surgery he recently underwent, wishing him full health. The king expressed his appreciation for the kind sentiments expressed by both President El-Sisi and Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed.

The President welcomed his two brothers as dear guests of Egypt, expressing his appreciation for the close and historical relations that bind the three countries at the official and popular levels, in addition to the extended civilizational intertwining among them. The President confirmed that Egypt looked forward to enhancing cooperation with Jordan and the UAE, advancing towards broad horizons of strategic partnership that establishes extended relations and achieve common interests, ultimately promoting joint Arab action, particularly in light of the great challenges in region and the economic and social crises resulting from the multiple regional and international developments.

For their part, Egypt’s guests valued the close ties that the three countries share and affirmed their keenness to step up cooperation with Egypt to the level of strategic partnership, for the benefit of the brotherly peoples of the three countries, and in a manner that maximizes benefiting from the opportunities and potential of cooperation among them, adding more momentum to this fruitful cooperation across various fields. In addition, these relations represent a cornerstone for safeguarding regional security and stability and restoring balance to the region, in light of the pivotal importance of Egypt, Jordan and the UAE both regionally and internationally.

The Spokesman added that the meeting touched on developments of cooperation among the three countries. There was agreement to continue coordination and consultation on all issues of mutual interest, with the aim of unifying views and actions, supporting joint Arab action and exerting the necessary efforts to preserve Arab national security.

Discussions also covered the latest regional developments, especially the developments pertinent to the peace process in the Middle East, and ongoing coordination among the three countries in this regard, in light of the developments in Jerusalem. The leaders stressed the importance of sustaining efforts to restore calm in Jerusalem and the importance of respecting the legal and historical status of Al Haram Al Qudsi. They also confirmed the importance of respecting the role of the historical Hashemite guardianship in protecting the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, and the need for Israel to stop all measures that undermine the two-state solution. This is in addition to the need to find a political horizon to return to serious and effective negotiations to resolve the Palestinian issue on the basis of the two-state solution and in accordance with international law.

The leaders also exchanged views on a number of international issues, particularly the Russia-Ukraine crisis, and the Arab role in this regard through the Arab liaison committee. They confirmed the importance of prioritizing dialogue and diplomatic solutions and endeavors that shall promptly resolve the crisis politically so as to maintain international security and stability and ensure that the situation does not escalate nor deteriorate, also in order to avoid aggravating humanitarian and economic conditions and their impact on the region and the world.
