President El-Sisi Meets with Iraqi Minister of Defense

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met today with Minister of Defense of Iraq Lieutenant General Juma Anad Saadoun, in the presence of Minister of Defense and Military Production General Mohamed Zaki.

The Spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency stated that the meeting discussed the bilateral military cooperation status between Egypt and Iraq, including the joint exercises, experience sharing, training programs and capacity building programs. A number of Arab and regional issues and files of common interest were also discussed in the meeting.

In this context, President El-Sisi affirmed Egypt's keenness to cooperate with Iraq in all fields, especially at the military level. This keenness comes within the framework of the policy Egypt adopts towards Iraq; Egypt fully supports Iraq to overcome all the challenges facing it, thus helping it strengthen its national institutions, maintain its security and stability, and achieve progress and prosperity for its people.

His Excellency also asked that his greetings be conveyed to Iraqi President Mr. Barham Salih and Iraqi Prime Minister Mr. Mustafa Al-Kazemi. The Iraqi Minister of Defense expressed his country's aspiration to enhance cooperation frameworks with Egypt, in light of the fact that Egypt, under the leadership of President El-Sisi, has successfully become an inspiring model to be followed in a region suffering from crises and turmoil, despite the enormous challenges imposed by these pressing circumstances.

The Minister of Defense of Iraq conveyed to President El-Sisi the greetings of his two brothers, President of Iraq Mr. Barham Salih and Prime Minister of Iraq Mr. Mustafa Al-Kazemi. He stressed the Iraqi government and people’s appreciation for the Egyptian efforts in support of the Iraqi issue at various levels.
