President El-Sisi Participates in Four-Way Meeting with Iraqi President, King of Jordan and Iraqi PM

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi participates in a four-way meeting in Baghdad with President of Iraq Barham Salih, King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi.

The Spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency stated that the President thanked his brother, the Iraqi President, for the warm reception and kind hospitality he received. President El-Sisi expressed his appreciation for the close and historical relations between the two brotherly countries at the official and popular levels as well as the extended intertwining of civilization and culture. His Excellency wished the Iraqi executive authority all the success during this important turning point in the history of the brotherly Iraqi people.

The President also affirmed Egypt’s aspiration to launch a new phase of constructive cooperation, whether within the bilateral framework or the tripartite Egyptian-Iraqi-Jordanian framework.

Egypt is also keen that we move together toward broad horizons of the long-standing, strategic partnership aimed primarily at strengthening joint Arab action, within a sustainable framework of economic integration and strategic cooperation, especially in light of the common challenges facing the three countries, the President asserted.

For his part, the Iraqi President welcomed his brother, President El-Sisi, as a dear guest in Baghdad, stressing his country's pride in the President's visit, the first official visit of an Egyptian President to Iraq in 30 years. President Salih also affirmed the depth of the ties binding the two brotherly countries as well as Iraq’s keenness to enhance cooperation with Egypt to the level of strategic partnership for the benefit of the two brotherly peoples. These relations act as a cornerstone for maintaining security and stability in the region as well as restoring regional balance in light of Egypt’s pivotal role regionally and internationally.

The Iraqi President affirmed his country’s aspiration to benefit from the successful Egyptian experience in implementing development projects and comprehensive economic reforms, within the framework of the current efforts to reconstruct Iraq.

President Salih further expressed Iraq’s keenness to learn from Egypt’s tireless efforts in combating terrorism and extremism, especially through enhancing communication and promoting coordination between the institutions concerned in the two countries.

The Spokesman added that the meeting discussed the developments of the various paths of cooperation within the framework of the tripartite cooperation mechanism between Egypt, Iraq and Jordan. During the meeting, it was agreed on the continuation of coordination and consultation on all issues of mutual interest with the aim of unifying visions and movements, supporting joint Arab action and making the necessary efforts to safeguard Arab national security.
