President El-Sisi Inaugurates Imam Al-Hussein Mosque After Major Renovation

Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi inaugurated Imam Al-Hussein Mosque, after major renovation works to the mosque and the area surrounding it, including the new maqsura of the holy shrine of Imam Al-Hussein. President El-Sisi was joined in the inauguration by His Holiness Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin, Sultan of the Indian Bohra community, accompanied by his brothers and sons.

The Spokesman for the Presidency said the restoration and maintenance of Imam Al-Hussein Mosque comes within the framework of President El-Sisi’s directives to renovate the shrines of Prophet Muhammed's descendants “Ahl al-Bayt". Those included in particular the shrines of Imam Al-Hussein, Al Sayyeda Nafisa, and Al Sayyeda Zeinab, which were renovated in an integrated manner, including the mosques’ interior halls and the architectural decorations, in harmony with the historic and spiritual character of the shrines. This is in addition to the comprehensive development of services and facilities in the surrounding area, including the roads, squares and roads leading to the shrines, in a manner that integrated with the state’s efforts to develop historic sites in Fatimid and historic Cairo.

The Spokesman noted that within the framework of the firm, historic relations between Egypt and the Bohra community, His Holiness Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin, Sultan of the Indian Bohra community, made valued efforts in the renovation and restoration of “Ahl al-Bayt" shrines and a number of Egyptian historic mosques, including the shrine of Imam Al-Hussein, Al Sayyeda Nafisa, and Al Sayyeda Zeinab. This is in addition to other various charity activities by the Bohra community in Egypt as well as their support for “Tahya Misr Fund”
