President El-Sisi Meets with French Minister of Economy and Finance in Paris

This morning, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met in Paris with French Minister of Economy and Finance Mr. Bruno Le Maire.

The Spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency stated that the French Minister welcomed President El-Sisi in Paris, stressing his country's interest in strengthening joint strategic cooperation between the two sides. The aim is to provide advanced technology to Egypt in all fields and encourage French companies to work and invest in Egypt, thus advancing the comprehensive development process, especially in light of the positive economic developments taking place in Egypt during the recent period.

These developments are demonstrated in creating an attractive climate for foreign investments, taking serious steps forward to facilitate government procedures and issuance of investment licenses, and encouraging the private sector to participate in many projects.

The Spokesman mentioned that during the meeting, the President expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the French Ministry for the Economy and Finance in strengthening bilateral economic and trade relations. The President also demonstrated its support for the capacity building of Egyptian development institutions, especially in light of the promising investment opportunities for French investors in Egypt in various sectors and in the giant national projects in particular.

President El-Sisi stressed that Egypt looks forward to entering into partnerships with France in many of these projects, such as “Haya Karima” (Decent Life) Initiative aiming to develop the villages of the Egyptian countryside, as well as the national projects in the public transport sector, whether in the field of railways, the subway, or electric vehicles manufacture.

Egypt also seeks to extend its partnership with France in various projects in other sectors, such as health, education, energy, communications, technology and artificial intelligence, and encourage French companies to contribute to the implementation of investment development projects in the Suez Canal region and to benefit from the special advantages gained by Egypt regionally.

For his part, the French Minister of Economy and Finance praised the measures taken by Egypt to attract and develop foreign direct investments, highlighting the ministry’s role in encouraging French companies to operate and invest in Egypt. Minister Bruno Le Maire also mentioned the new French investments made in Egypt recently and the expanded French investment activities.

The French Minister further expressed his intention to continue working and coordinating during the coming period with the concerned government agencies in Egypt in order to enhance economic cooperation between the two countries.
