Sunday, 19 September 2021 / 02:50 PM

Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Prime Minister Dr. Moustafa Madbouly, Minister of Finance Dr. Mohamed Maait, Minister of Public Business Sector Mr. Hisham Tawfik, Minister of Social Solidarity Ms. Nevine Al-Kabbaj, Presidential Advisor for Financial Affairs Major General Mohamed Amin and the Head of the National Authority for Social Insurance Gamal Awad.

The Spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency stated that the meeting reviewed a system to support and protect artists as well as to develop the National Authority for Social Insurance.

The President was briefed on efforts to develop a system to support and protect artists as well as aspects pertinent to improving the pensions of members of art syndicates. This is in addition to identifying their social and health insurance status.

The President was updated on the proposals to reform the legislative framework to improve social security and care for the members of those syndicates as well as efforts to provide funding sources for the new system and benefit from similar international experiences.

The President stressed the importance of auditing the registration database of artists in different categories in cooperation and coordination with the various art syndicates in order to include them in the insurance and social protection programs against various risk factors, such as aging and disability among others, that could hinder artists from performing their work.

In this respect, those working in the arts sector who neither have regular jobs nor alternative sources of income were particularly highlighted. Thus, they would be provided with means for a decent life, along with their families, so as to enhance and protect Egypt’s soft power, which has always been a beacon of arts and creativity in the region and the world at large.

The Spokesman added that the President followed up on the aspects of developing the National Authority for Social Insurance. The President emphasized the importance of continuing efforts to develop the Authority due to its vital role in offering services to those who are insured, pensioners or beneficiaries.

This is in addition to the Authority’s role in improving its human resources, completing the legislative framework, developing its headquarters, facilitating procedures for those who are insured, and upgrading the IT system for digital transformation purposes, as well as ensuring an automatic link to all relevant government bodies.
