President El-Sisi's Speech on Occasion of 74th Anniversary of Police Day
"In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful"
Honorable members of the police,
Ladies and gentlemen,
It gives me great pleasure, on the occasion of the 74th anniversary of the Egyptian Police Day, to extend my sincere greetings and appreciation to the brave men and women of the police force, who always stand at the forefront of the domestic front lines, guarding security, ensuring stability, and serving as a powerful shield that protects the sacred land of Egypt and its noble people from any danger or threat.
On this occasion, we renew our pledge of loyalty and commitment to the pious martyrs from the police, who sacrificed their pure souls for the sake of the nation, etching with their noble blood and eternal sacrifices the finest pages of heroism and devotion. While the right of the martyrs is greater than any words can express, we will always remain loyal to their memory, and committed to our duty towards their families and loved ones, who truly deserve all our support, care, and appreciation.
The truth here is that, as we stand before the families of the martyrs and the injured, in every meeting, we emphasize that the sacrifices are ongoing. Every time we meet with the families of the martyrs, we renew our pledge of gratitude to them. I affirm that the state's institutions are committed to supporting them. Here, it is necessary to have various activities to meet with the families of the martyrs and the injured throughout the year, with dedicated programs for them at the Police Academy and the Military Academy. I extend my deepest greetings, appreciation, respect, and pride to those who sacrificed their lives. We will not discuss the measures taken with the families of the martyrs, but I would like to mention that around eight to nine years ago, a fund was established for the martyrs and the injured, which includes martyrs and injured from all wars, including the martyrs and injured of the 1948, 1956, and 1967 wars, the War of Attrition, as well as civilians who participated in building the missile wall, and the October War of 1973, and the subsequent wars in the fight against terrorism, from members of the army, police, judiciary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and other state institutions. I also refer to the initiative that was created for the children of the martyrs’ families through the fund, in coordination with the Central Bank and the National Insurance Company, to provide an amount for the children of the martyrs and the injured upon reaching the age of 21, according to the available data we have. I reaffirm our support for the families of the martyrs. All our respect to the martyrs of the nation, they remain in our hearts.
Dear brothers and sisters,
This year’s celebration comes at a time when the world is fraught with conflicts over land, resources, and influence; it is witnessing ideological and economic clashes and unprecedented challenges that shake the foundations of nations and deplete the resources of peoples, whether in the East or West, North or South.
In the face of all of these challenges, I reaffirm that the earth is vast enough for all, and that the heavenly religions and human values reject the brutal practices we witness today. Should these practices continue, they will inevitably dismantle the system of international law and undermine the global order established in the wake of World War II.
Thanks to ِAllah the Almighty, and the efforts of our Armed Forces, our civilian police, our institutions, and the awareness of the noble Egyptian people, Egypt will remain an impregnable fortress against disturbances and a haven for security and stability. As it has been throughout the ages, Egypt remains a refuge for millions from other nations. It continues to serve as a solid bulwark against waves of illegal migration—refusing to turn this issue into a tool for leverage or a bargaining chip at the expense of humanity.
Egypt continues to perform its historic regional and international role, unwavering in its principles of rejecting violence, calling for peace, as well as adhering to a policy of building and achieving prosperity, while rejecting the seizure of others' resources.
The “Sharm El-Sheikh Agreement" for a ceasefire in Gaza Strip is a living testament to Egypt’s efforts alongside its partners, to establish peace and stability. I reaffirm here that we are pushing with full force toward the complete implementation of the agreement and the thwarting of any attempts to circumvent it—given the significant effort exerted by U.S. President Donald Trump to reach this agreement.
From this platform, I reiterate the necessity of not obstructing humanitarian aid to our people in the Gaza Strip, the need for the complete implementation of the second phase of the agreement and immediate action to rebuild the Strip and make it viable for a dignified life.
I also stress the need to stop the systematic practices against the Palestinian people on their occupied land and reject any attempts or efforts to displace them from their homeland.
I warn that the displacement of nearly 2.5 million Palestinians from Gaza Strip- and the resulting liquidation of the Palestinian cause -will lead to the migration of hundreds of thousands towards Europe and Western countries. This shall trigger severe security, economic, and social repercussions that no one has the capacity to endure.
In the same context, and in light of the recurring patterns of instability seen in some countries, Egypt reiterates its categorical and decisive rejection of any efforts aimed at dividing the region’s countries, or carving out portions of their territories, or establishing militias and entities that parallel legitimate national armies and institutions. Egypt considers such practices within its neighboring countries to be a red line that it will not allow to be crossed, as they directly impact its national security.
Here, I affirm to you that the institutions of the state are a pillar of stability and security for the country. Militias do not protect nations, and the countries that believed that establishing militias could play a role in protecting regimes have seen these militias turn into tools for the destruction of states. Those who did that have departed, and it is only by the will of Allah Almighty that this country has been preserved.
I would like to point out that we are obligated to fortify the youth of Egypt, especially those who were not aware of the events of 2011, particularly with the dangers of using social media inappropriately, especially Artificial Intelligence, which can create false contexts. I want to emphasize here that the protection of the state is not just through security measures, but also through actions taken by various state institutions, including mosques, churches, universities, and schools. There is a high price for instability. Any disruption in any country costs both the present and the future. Therefore, we must take the necessary steps in universities, mosques, and homes. Therefore, the issue of awareness becomes critical. We have defeated the wave of terrorism completely by 2022, and state institutions must continue to educate citizens. The goal is not to protect a regime, but to take the necessary actions, including spreading awareness. I would also like to point out that parliaments have enacted legislation to limit the use of mobile phones until a certain age.
The great people of Egypt,
Extremism, with its repulsive face and destructive ideas, will find no land or refuge in Egypt. National unity is our strong shield.
(I emphasize that all citizens are equal in this country. We have taken measures and established practices to ensure mutual respect for one another. I call upon us all to be guardians of freedom especially since extremist thought stems from a lack of knowledge of Allah).
The vigilance of our Armed Forces and police, and the awareness of our people to construct a wall against which all conspiracies, plots, and malicious rumors will break. No matter how hard the enemies try to spread harmful ideas or misleading rumors, they are destined to fail and disappear.
By the grace of Allah, Egypt shall remain resilient against discord and fortified against conspiracies. It will press forward on its path toward development and prosperity, undeterred by the schemes of the spiteful or the deceits of the treacherous.
(I tell you, take pride in your country, which has not been involved in any conspiracy, destruction, or the killing of anyone in the region.)
Through today’s celebration, I renew the pledge to our proud people that the Egyptian State is moving forward with steady, deliberate steps, with an unwavering will and indomitable determination, on the right path toward further economic reforms, enhancing the role of the private sector, and ensuring the optimal utilization of our resources and wealth to improve the living standards of Egyptian citizens and provide them with the dignified life they deserve.
We are making every effort to build promising generations and empower young cadres in various fields to be the driving force that will propel the state to broader horizons of development and progress, securing Egypt’s prestigious standing that it rightfully deserves among the nations.
(I would like to point out here that the problems that occurred in 2010 and the years prior were a precursor to the state of Egypt. State institutions were suffering; therefore, it is essential to reform these institutions calmly, with a clear plan and steady progress, by exerting the utmost effort. There are programs in place to develop all state institutions, though the reform period is long. There are advanced, merit-based programs aimed at development, as every institution must engage in honest self-criticism. The transition from backwardness to progress takes a long time.)
Finally, I extend my greetings once again to the esteemed police authority, emphasizing that Egypt will remain proud of the vital role you play in maintaining security and safety, upholding the rule of law, and protecting all who live on its blessed land.
May Allah bless you and guide your steps.
Always and forever:
Long live Egypt, long live Egypt, long live Egypt.
Peace be upon you, and may Allah’s mercy and blessings be upon you.
