Speech by President El-Sisi on the 41st Anniversary of Sinai Liberation

Tuesday, 25 April 2023 / 10:05 AM

“In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful”

The great people of Egypt,

I address you today on a commemoration that is dear and precious to the hearts of every Egyptian and Arab, the 41st anniversary of the liberation of dear Sinai, the cradle of divine messages and the pathway of the prophets. It is this sacred spot in the homeland that is bursting with the blessings and mercy of Allah Almighty, with the ray of divine light, that was manifested on its blessed land, exalting its sublimity, appreciation and pride.
Precious Sinai is the title of a long history of struggle by the great Egyptian people. Historically, it has always been coveted by invaders, was always the center of interest of the aspirants and greedy and also the primary target of the fiercest and most ferocious wave of terrorism that passed on Egypt in its entire history.

Brothers and Sisters,
The 25th of April of every year will always be a commemorative day in the history of our nation, representing an outcome, which we pride ourselves on, of the glorious October war and the long path of peace and diplomacy, embodying the will of people who refused to live in the shadow of brokenness.
The liberation of Sinai was a liberation of Egyptian dignity, and a triumph of the solidity and robustness of willpower and endurance, and of sound planning, preparation and execution.
On this day, we extend salutation of appreciation and esteem in the name of Egypt and its people to late President Mohamed Anwar Al-Sadat, the hero of war and peace, who made the hardest decisions on the most critical and acute moments and the darkest days, and Allah Almighty granted him success to restore the land and the dignity and embark on the path of peace and development.
And Sinai is back, to encounter a tough and unprecedented test, with terrorists and takfiris flocking from every corner, aiming to separate it from the homeland by spreading terror and terrorism, with the illusion that they can terrorize Egypt’s army and police. They ignored the fact that this great army and courageous police are vigorous fighters, fearless of death for the sake of Allah and the homeland, backed by great people who have always been patient and solid, fighting and winning.
Generations will talk for long years to come, with pride, about the sacrifices and heroism shown by the men of the Armed Forces and the Police during the war on terrorism in the past ten years.

The great people of Egypt,
The liberation of Sinai from occupation, terrorism, and every evil that befalls it or any part of Egypt’s eternal land is a pledge and a promise that we keep for which we continue working in order to strengthen and protect it.
By extension, we have embarked on a battle for the development of Sinai, which requires huge efforts, sincere intentions, and patience to work. This is to provide Sinai with a new reality, befitting it and the sacrifices of all Egyptians in Sinai and in every part of the homeland.

Brothers and sisters,
As we celebrate today the Liberation Day of Sinai, we extend our salutations and gratitude to the souls of the immortal martyrs of Egypt, who sacrificed their lives for the sake of the homeland, and to the injured, who sacrificed their bodies and health, without a second thought.
We say to them and their families: "Our generation and future generations pledge to protect what you have achieved, with vigilance and attention, constant readiness, and more work, development, and progress”.
In conclusion, I say to you: “Egypt is on its path, God willing, toward prosperity, peace and development, for the benefit of its people, and all peoples of humanity”.

May goodness and safety prevail in Egypt.
Long live Egypt, long live Egypt, long live Egypt, always and forever.
May the peace, mercy and blessings of Allah be upon you.
